Last spring and again in the fall, I will journey back to South Africa, Mozambique, and Swaziland to encourage our brothers and sisters overseas. A majority of our work includes discipleship and foundational bible studies with a lot of the natives in the surrounding communities. We have also shared in the ministry of lending helping hands at orphanages and homeless shelters. It has been incredible to see the Kingdom of God at work in these parts of the world. I am deeply thankful for all your prayers and encouragement and hope to share again what the Lord is wonderfully doing." (updated 8/07)

(*) Roy and Suzan's Letter: Roy (’79), Suzan (’80), Benjamin ('07) & Sydney ('07) moved to Belize as missionaries in 2004, with an opportunity to assist in the construction of a children’s home owned by a separate mission organization. This home was completed and licensed in 2005, and is currently a home for girls over the age of 10.Following are some highlights of our service to God in Belize: ROY: (1) Assist in construction/renovation of preschools, schools, churches, and the children’s home; (2) Build a mobile dental office (with the help of a few engineers!); (3) Teach Bible to teenage boys at a remedial school; (4) Teach adult Sunday school at our church in Belmopan; (5) Develop a music ministry at our churchCoordinate ministry opportunities for short-term mission teams from the US. SUZAN: (1) Teach Bible to 5 public school classes of 3rd graders; (2) Teach introductory computer classes to teenagers (a 2 year project); (3) Begin and teach a Bible Study Fellowship (BSF International) class for women in Belize City (an hour from our home – but God definitely put all this together!); (4) Volunteer in an international community outreach project with women from over 25 countries; (5) Write a book on infertility and how God uses it. In addition, through our sending church, Mid-Way Baptist, as well as various other churches and individuals, we sponsor two teenagers for housing and education, as well as assist a young Mayan widow with 6 children under the age of 8. God has confirmed to us in many ways that we are exactly where we are supposed to be at this time. It is not always easy to follow God and do things His way, but it is ALWAYS best. It took us a long time to learn this! Both children moved with us to Belize as rising sophomores, completing one year of schooling in Belize. Benjamin moved back to Raleigh to live with Suzan’s parents and complete his junior year at WCA, while Sydney stayed with us. This was a difficult transition for us all. And then, incredibly, we all knew that it was best for Sydney to return to WCA for her senior year. With many tears and groanings of prayer we moved her back in the spring of 2006. We miss o ur children terribly, and this senior year is not how we all imagined it would be, but God has poured out His grace on us, and we are thankful. We desire our lives to bring honor to Him, and in this endeavor we are not always understood, but we are at peace with God. Please continue to lift up our family in prayer. We deeply appreciate the way WCA faculty, staff and students have rallied around our children and supported them during this extremely significant year of their lives. We are also grateful for how the class of 2007 feels and acts just like family to our children! May God continue to bless WCA as generations are educated and illuminated by God’s grace and guidance. Love in Christ, Roy and Suzan Tripp
