Fall Revival 2010 PDF Print

Southside Church Senior Pastor Jim Harmeling was the fall revival speaker for 2010. Pastor Harmeling centered his message each of the three days around WCA’s 2010-2011 theme verse, 2 Corinthians 5:17, which says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." Senior Meredith Brown commented, "Fall revival was an incredible way to start the new school year! Pastor Harmeling spoke about the attributes of Christians and this truly inspired me in my daily walk with Christ. The praise team was great as well."

Pastor Harmeling began Day 1 by explaining what it means to be a new creation in Christ. He examined several verses from Scripture specifically directed at identifying who the believer is in Christ. Each student was given a bookmark with the verses listed as a reminder of who they are in Christ. Days 2 and 3 focused on how a new creation in Christ should act. I Corinthians 3:10-11 reminds us the believer will be held accountable for the investment he makes for the glory of the Lord. Because the new creation desires to please the Lord they are now controlled by the love of Christ toward others and seek to persuade others to live for Christ and not themselves. Finally, the world will see a difference in the heart and life of the new creation. The new creation lives with a sense of purpose and mission, whereas before their life was dead in sin.

Middle school principal Mr. Larry Hoxie summed up his feelings concerning the week with this comment, " I Corinthians 3:13 says, ‘Each man's work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man's work.' There will come a time when each of us will have a life-end evaluation. At that time we must give an account for the skills, education, friends, and resources God has given us. Pastor Harmeling challenged us to make sure that our life counts. Like Daniel or King Josiah we are never too young to make our life count."

Freshman student council member David Bass said, "The fall revival was truly amazing. It coincided with a revival at my church, and the union of these two was a spiritual blessing. It is still comforting to know that I am a new creation in Christ."

Students, faculty, and staff were greatly encouraged by the message of Pastor Harmeling. As a new creation in Christ puts into practice the principles shared from God’s Word, the difference will be seen not only at Wake Christian but also in the world.

Varsity Cheerleading Summer Camp Competition PDF Print

The 2010-2011 varsity cheerleading squad went to cheerleading camp this summer hosted by Christian Cheerleaders of America. The camp is located in Matthews, NC and this year, over 15 schools were represented with more than 40 teams participating. The girls had an amazing time fellowshipping with their peers, learning different aspects of cheerleading, and worshipping Christ. During the week approximately 15-20 girls either accepted Christ or rededicated their life to Him. Head Coach, Maggie Woolet commented, "It was truly an amazing experience."

Each day the squad received scores based on their performance. At the end of each day our squad was awarded a blue ribbon for superior rating. The girls also competed in a competition the last day against 7 other teams. We received first place not only in the competition, but also for our performances that week. Allison Williams received a "special camper" of the week medal. Coach Woolet said, "The squad did an amazing job, and I am so very proud of them. We look forward to returning to CCA summer camp next year."

Annual Prayer Walk PDF Print
The HS Student Council hosted their annual Prayer Walk, Sunday August 8th. The purpose of the walk is to prayerfully commit the school year to the Lord. Over 40 students, teachers, administrators, and family members attended. Sarah Stallings, Student Council President, welcomed and organized the attendees into groups that dispersed across the entire campus to pray for the students, teachers, staff, fine arts, athletics, administration, and facilities. As we embark on the adventure of a new school year, we want to make sure the Lord is our central focus. He has promised us if we come to Him in prayer, He will hear our prayers, and answer them according to His perfect will. What better way to begin the 2010-2011 school year here at Wake Christian Academy.
