I got a parent to bring in the biscuits for 1st period(Thanks, Jill Howard!).  Please check with your student to see if he/she signed up to bring something else in to contribute to our party.  Please send $1 before Tuesday, Nov. 25th, and then remember to send the item in on Tuesday.

First period parents : I only received two addresses to send letters to, and another opportunity to care for our military has been presented.  So, our class has decided to collect phone cards (preferrably AT&T) and Christmas decorations or candy for soldiers who have just arrived to serve.  Please contribute as soon as possible, as we have to mail these items off before Dec. 1st!

Cold season is upon us and I am out of tissues, paper towels and hand sanitizer--donations will be very much appreciated!!

Please be aware that the assignments may change throughout the week, based on what we get done in class.

8th Grade Homework:   

* Parents/Students of 1st Period:   The Giver is a very different book.  I chose to read it as a class to challenge the students to think and learn about the concept of Utopia and dystopia; the thought of a society controlled beyond communism; and a society that believes we can achieve perfection and perfect peace without Christ.  The class is thinking, and it is good to see them questioning things and forming opinions.  We have already done several historical fiction pieces, and so I also wanted to change to a different genre for a time.  I hope that answers some of your thoughts on why.... stick with me--I promise we will put this all into a Christian worldview!

                          2nd: Grammar p. 46, Ex B, C 1-8; Work on book report; write 10 sentences with vocabulary words if not done in class
