My name is Luke Silva, and I have been attending Wake Christian Academy for 13 years. Along with many of my classmates, I have been fortunate to receive a Christ-centered education for so many years. WCA’s faculty and staff have been a blessing to me during my time at Wake, demonstrating genuine Christ-like love and care toward me and my fellow classmates. I have loved my time at Wake, and I would not have wanted to grow up anywhere else.

I was involved in many different areas at WCA, such as athletics, fine arts, and drama. I ran both indoor and outdoor Varsity Track and Field, and I played Varsity Soccer, where I served as a captain. Along with athletics, I was also a member of the Bulldog Regiment, where I served as a Field Commander for two years and a drum major for one year. I also participated in the Gideon’s Line Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and NCCSA All-State Honors Band throughout all four years of high school. I served as president of the Tri-M Music Honors Society, and I was also a member of the Praise Team at WCA. On top of all of this, I had the privilege of being in our class’s production of High School Musical On Stage!, which was an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life.

In the future, I plan on attending NC State University and pursuing a double degree in computer and electrical engineering. In addition, I plan to continue pursuing my love for music by working toward a minor in music performance. After college, I hope to marry the girl God has for me and start a family. I am not fully sure how yet, but I am praying that God will use my gifts and studies to further His kingdom, whether it be in Raleigh, North Carolina, or in a remote country on the other side of the world.

To the upcoming students at WCA, I urge you to savor every experience that WCA gives you. Whether it be the senior play, senior retreats, or the senior trip, do not take that time for granted. Remember James 1:17, which says, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” As you enjoy these senior festivities, remember who is behind every fun activity and experience: God. I pray that through all of your great experiences, you will see that God’s goodness is all around you.
